Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park Hiking Map No.2 of 6: Cathedral Peak to Monks Cowl
This second map in the series of 6 unique, superbly drawn and highly detailed
very large scale hiking maps of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park covers the area
from Cathedral Peak to Monks Cowl. These maps are absolutely unique and
difficult to find. No-one intending to wander the Drakensberg Cathedral Peak to
Monks Cowl region can afford to be without this map.
The maps numbered 1 to 6 are for the different regions in the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park with hiking map number 2 (Cathedral Peak to Monks Cowl) starting in the north of the Drakensberg Mountains.
The map shows contours at 20m intervals, heights in metres above sea level, tops of passes, trig beacons, peaks and heights. In addition the maps shows paths, major and minor as well as "other" including those paths which are not recommended to be travelled. The scale is 1:50,000 (2cms = 1km).
This map number 2 includes the Cathedral Peak (Mlambonja) Wilderness area just west of the main Cathedral peak area. There is a small section of privately held land inside the region where the Cathedral Peak Hotel, golf course and trout hatchery are situated.
The region covered by the map includes the Didima Special Conservation Area. the Culfargie section and the whole of the Monk's Cowl wilderness area. in the southern section bordering the Injisuthi area which is covered in map number 3.
There are KZN wildlife offices at both Monk's Cowl and in the northern section of the Cathedral Peak region.
