GPS coordinates on the Maps
The GPS coordinates written in this map consist of a latitude and longitude that can be inputted into a GPS receiver to aid navigation. When planning a detailed off road trip in Africa it is strongly recommended that a GPS is used. Grid reading can be a problem in obtaining exact GPS locations especially if the map is of scale that an estimate of the correct co-ordinates is hard to achieve. Maps of at least 1: 50000 are required for this purpose and even then care needs to be taken.
The maps shown below show GPS coordinates of intersections, towns, fuel points, resorts and points of interest. These GPS points are provided a service for map readers. As stated it is always best to double check co-ordinates for off road adventures in unfamiliar territory. This can be done using Google Earth.
