This range of South Africa regional maps contain extremely valuable information not found on other road
and off-road maps
covering the same regions. The maps contain GPS coordinates for accommodation
facilities, visitor centres, adventure sites, points of interest, landmarks,
towns, fuel stops, intersections and more. You will find descriptive
multi-language icons indicating the type of facility (e.g. lodge, camp, hotel)
as well as activities icons (e.g. abseiling, tennis, fishing, golf and many
more). Roads, tracks, 4x2 and 4x4 tracks are included.
GPS coordinates on the Maps
The GPS coordinates written in this map consist of a latitude and longitude that
can be inputted into a GPS receiver to aid navigation. When planning a detailed
off road trip in South Africa it is strongly recommended the Tracks4Africa digital map for
use with your GPS be bought . Grid reading can be a problem in obtaining exact GPS
locations especially if the map is of scale that an estimate of the correct
co-ordinates is hard to achieve. Maps of at least 1: 50000 are required for this
purpose and even then care needs to be taken. The maps here should be used in
conjunction with the digital Tracks4Africa maps. The WGS84 datum is used for
these maps.
The map shows GPS coordinates of intersections, towns, fuel points, resorts and
points of interest. These GPS points are provided a service for map readers. As
stated it is always best to double check co-ordinates for off road adventures in
unfamiliar territory.
