The Etosha Map & Guide. Discover the Etosha Pan in The Etosha National Park, Namibia
The Etosha Pan covers some 4731 sq kms. At its widest point it is approximately 110km. The pan is mostly dry except after heavy rains when it floods mainly from the Ekuma and Oshigambo rivers in the north of Namibia. In the east Fischers Pan is fed from the Omuthiya and Omuramba and Owambo rivers. This extension of the main pan can usually hold water for much of the year.

Permanent springs are plentiful in the south of Kgalagadi. These are fed by water reserves in the porous bedrock which permeate out onto the impermeable clay floor of the pan. Because the Etosha National park offers so much to explore it's important to get the best map available. The Etosha National park covers an area of 22,912 sq kms. The word Etosha means "Great White Place"... so named after the salt pan.
