The Fynbos Road Map: Roam This Magnificent Floral Kingdom Down to Aghulas Plain Nature Reserve

This great new map follows the FYNBOS ROAD, a road that in its 100 kilometres
traverses more natural habitats, history and facilities than any other. The map
was uniquely developed with inputs from more than 40 prominent and knowledgeable
local residents - it has everything you need to know about the Fynbos, Birds,
Whales, Sharks, History and wonderful amenities of this prime area.
The Fynbos Road connects the Whale Coast to the southernmost tip of Africa (no
it's not Cape Point) named Aghulas National Park. It starts with one of the top
birding spots in South Africa. The drive is a prime example of the Cape Floral
Kingdom, providing us with a massive variety of Fynbos and other plants. The
Fynbos Road drive provides access to numerous nature reserves and conservation
areas and Fynbos estates.
The Fynbos Road leads into the the Aghulas National Park which is earmarked as
"The Serengeti of the Western Cape" since it is planned to re-introduce many of
the animals that used to roam naturally in this pristine region. Lion for
example used to roam this Fynbos area and it was the first place that Zebra (Quagga)
were spotted by European settlers.

A2 double-sided full colour map, in hard cover and plastic sleeve.
This full-relief map [20 m contours] covers the whole of the Agulhas Plain, the
Southernmost Area of Africa. From Hermanus in the West to Witsand in the East
and south of the Caledon Ruggens, it's all here.
All roads from National Highways to minor gravel roads are shown, with
distances. All tourism accommodation establishments and a range of some 30
facilities from hiking trails to wine cellars are shown.
Special features:
Fynbos and Birding Hotspots are clearly shown, indicating establishments that
offer guided tours. The map details the best whale-watching sites in the
Southern Cape, and over 150 shipwrecks are shown. The Fynbos Road map also
includes enlarged insets of the major Fynbos towns as well as the Danger Point
and Agulhas Peninsulas.
The Fynbos Road Map is the most comprehensive map of the Agulhas Plain ever
published.
‘Slingsby’s maps are always first class, and this one is no exception.
Much of the information comes from local inhabitants themselves, so the map is a
cut above most guidebooks, and imparts a good local ‘sense of place’ with
information like the naming of all the shipwrecks off the coast, the best places
to walk and whale watch, restaurants, archaeological sites, accommodation - just
about anything you need to know. Highly recommended!’
